I am trying to figure out what sort of expertise and diversity we have available on GeoExpat.

I expect a fair number of "New York", "London", "Vancouver" and "Sydney" replies .. but I figure we have a much more diversity.

So .. where do you consider home or where are you originally from?

For me, even though I'm from Bombay, Hong Kong is home.

oooh it's slightly complicated! since i was born and raised in Singapore, and my parents live there at the moment, i guess that counts as home. BUT, i lived in NY for almost a decade and love it so much (not to mention miss it like crazy), so that's home to me too. i currently live in HK obviously, so that counts as home also i guess!

born in singapore, grown in singapore, 'grew up' (as in the formation of personality and mind) in japan.

worked in engineering research for a large early part of working life in singapore, now hopping between HK, tokyo and Singapore in a bank working on derivative products.

home, not sure anymore. if i transfer to tokyo then i'd leave my apartment in hk and have 3 places to go. ahhaa

I'll speak for Coolgirl and myself -- We're both born and bred in the Philippines, in Quezon City (that's a bigger city than Manila, by the way) to be exact.

I find this interesting .. a large number of people that I meet these days (well thanks to geoexpat the sample is skewed..) cannot simply pinpoint where "home" is.

Sleuth : used to work for an Alpharetta HQed company in the 89-91 and traveled to Atlanta a fair bit. Fond memories of Buckhead.

Born and raised in Singapore. Undergrad in Gold Coast, Australia, and postgrad in Sydney Australia and lived in Perth a bit. Home? Good question, I'm not sure anymore. If I can choose a place that I would like to live in, that would be in Sydney. But tax in Australia is too much for me!
