Urgent: Can anyone recommend a good dining venue for a birthday group!

A restaurant has double booked and just called to say our booking has been cancelled, so need to find a good venue for 20 people for birthday drinks and dinner for a friend of mine for this weekend.

The ideal place would be somewhere on the Island, say between Causeway Bay and Sheung Wan with an all inclusive menu deal to keep it simple.

If anyone can recommend a good venue at around the $500 per head mark that would be really great.

Thanks!

This is not at all what you asked for, but I thought I'd make a suggestion anyway.

An alternative for big groups is the rainbow junk that takes you to lamma for seafood. The boat is free, takes 30 mins approx and leaves from central. Set menus available

www.rainbowrest.com.hk

I did this for my birthday because I was a bit fed up of the same old things with friends. It's very basic and even tatty, but we had so much fun. You will even be back in central in time for LKF getting started.

Thanks GK

Looks interesting. But given the current weather probably not going to risk it.

Will definately check this out when the weather picks up a bit.

Fat Angeloes in Elgin Street Soho. I know some on this board decry it but they put the large tables together regularly and the food is home style in very big portions ideal for sharing rather than nice little designs with two mouthfulls on a plate.
The place HAS a GREAT atmosphere and the staff are BRILLIANT.
Also they can cook to order in advance. The prices are also very low for the volume of food so you would have no problem with the budget.

My guess is they would comp you some things also due to the size of the party and I personally have NEVER EVER paid for a dessert in all my time to the place.

They also have another outlet in CWB but I have not been to it - yet ! If Elgin is full then they may fit uyou in there.

Enjoy

try Shui Hu Ju on Peel St (it has lanterns hanging outside, close to The Brunch Club)...there's a private room upstairs so you and your crowd can be as raucous as you like without disturbing anyone, and the food's great. wouldn't be surprised if there's an all-inclusive deal that can be worked out as well. call them soon though because they tend to get booked for weekends.
