We were advised to rent in the Horizon Suite Hotel in the New Territories, did anybody lived there for a while? Is it realy as nice as the ad. say? Later we will be looking for bigger to live in either buy or rent. This accomodation would be for at least 6 months.
Please advise.!

We enjoyed the Horizon suites for our 3 months. Try to get a sea-view as it makes the place seem a little bigger. Our 700 square footer was really about 450 square feet. From what I saw/heard whilst there, do not expect to rent one of the big apartments.
Exercise room is nice and there is a kids play-room (younger kids) as well as a big screen movie room. There is also a park right outside the complex where you can actually WALK ON THE GRASS!!!!!
It isn't really convenient to anything, but the shuttle bus system can get you where you need to go (althugh sometime there is a wait).
Short walk to MOS Plaza and KCR stop/bus depot. Also a small Park-n-Shop on ground floor.
We had a washer/dryer combo unit, which was nice. Maids come twice/week. Kitchen was a little small; no oven just a microwave and burners.

Thank you so much for your reply. Why can not get the bigger apartment? Is it all taken or it is not for expats?
Thanks again

All the big ones are taken. The people we know in the big ones had to wait months and months to get them.
Of course, it is all a matter of timing, so maybe you will be lucky.
We only had a choice of 2 apartments last October.

The Horizons suite is a bit out of your way, I think. Unless you're working in Tsim Sha Tsui (HS will have a shuttle bus that runs down there) or Diamond Hill.

There are other serviced apartments in the Kowloon area that may be more convenient. There's a reputable one near Prince Edward but I can't recall the name (will do some searching later if you want to know.)

I've heard a number of problems relating to HS, for instance if you stay you'll stay 6 months, then they make you pay for the whole 6 months. There is no early get-out clause.

Also, they have regular coaches of tourists coming in so they tend to block up the lifts in the morning and according to one source, take photos of you at the swimming pool.

Just don't take out such a long term lease on the place.

But then again, it might be a bit pricey.

You can also shuttle to University and take the KCR from there.
Yes, you pay the whole lease up front and you can't even break the lease to trade up in sizes.
Yes on the tourists, but we never had a lift problem. They tend to reserve one lift for the tourists and the other 3 for the residents.
Never had anyone take my picture at the pool, but we were there at the end of the swimming season.
