Student looking to rent flat near Kowloon Tong

Hi,

I'm a student and I'll be going to study at City University of Hong Kong in Kowloon Tong for the Summer. I don't really want to live in the student residence.

So I'm wondering if there are any apartments in Kowloon Tong or any district near there where the rent is $1500 or less /month. I am only looking for 1 bedroom, a kitchen, and 1 washroom including all the necessary electrical appliances. A good neighbourhood would be preferable.

Thanks!

I am afraid you will only find a room in some good hearts home for that amount of money.

HK is really up there in apartment rents.

Try advertising at the college or perhaps online here and HK Magazine share flat ads.

Good luck and don't give up.

I used to have a place in Wong Tai Sin for $2300 a month. It was not furnished though and the kitchen/bathroom was kind of a hallway. Then a bedroom. Size was ok overall, but I think you have a different idea of a kitchen than I may.

$1500 a month MIGHT get you in a shabby building with roommates. I don't want to be negative, but don't want to get your hopes up.

There is nothing decent for HK$1500 anywhere in Kowloon and especially not in the Kowloon Tong area. Actually the city university hostels have a great location. A bit up the mountain (beacon hill) and nice views over Kowloon Tong. In the private buildings close to the hostel you can expect to pay HK$ 35,000 up / month.

If you don't mind a 20-30 minutes train ride, you could try the New Territories, such as Tai Po or Sha Tin. But even there HK$1500 is very unlikely. A budget of at least HK$3000 is more realistic.

Hello esears2004,

Where in NT is this $2200/month flat located? Lo Wu, Sheung Shui, Fanling? Is it a village house? Can you send me contact details of owner or agent?
