mysery fruit

Okay, so I got a fruit bowl from Starbuck and most of the fruit I recognized (watermelon, kiwi, honeydew, cantelope) but there was one that I didn't recognize and I REALLY LIKED IT!
It was a pulpy, off-white flesh. It was sliced in such a way as to impy that it's size and shape was that of large apple or small melon. And it had seeds that reminded me of popey-seeds throughout the flesh.
I cannot say what it looks like whole, or how big it actually is as it was already sliced up, only how the slices suggested it's overall size.
It's taste was juicy, soft and only semi-sweet.

Is this an Asian fruit? Or one I've probably had in America but just didn't appreciate it?

You are the first person I know who actually likes it.
Most of us just tolerate it.

Love Dragon Fruit

I was introduced to the dragon fruit on my first visit to Hong Kong in 1994. I love it! We buy it here at home in Canada but it can be very expensive ($4.99 a pound which works out to about $8 for one). On our last trip to HK (October 2006) we were buying one every day because they were just $8-$10HK. That's less than $2 CDN each.

I think my objection is that they can taste too earthy or mudlike for me. I still eat it because they are lower in sugar.
