| Where to get clothes repaired? Hi, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a decent clothing repair shop. I've damaged my favourite pair of boardshorts and need to get them fixed. The job will require a little more than just sewing skills ? I've snapped a plastic loop that is part of the tieing system, so I need someone who can improvise (they will also have to be able to unstich/re-sew as the loop is sewn in). I'm not worried about it looking perfect, just want the boardies working again... Any advice much appreciated, ttw |

| Try some of the little stalls in the market places, you'd be surprised at the quality of their work and very cheap. |

How close are you to Central? There is one on the slope right in the middle of pottinger street, can almost fix anything. They dont speak Canto tho, but of course you can just show them the snapped plastic loop and they will sort it out for ya... |

| And also plenty of little places in Worldwide Plaza that do repairs at very reasonable prices. |

| Difficult to tell without seeing it, but $30-50 perhaps. |

So long you are not XXXXL and that loop of yours is not hula hoop size, it should not have cost more than 100... Check it out yourself. Its roughly in the middle of the slope, one of the side stalls. *Edit from old post*: They only speak Canto I mean... Last edited by cafc619; 02-04-2007 at 03:24 PM. |

| I broke my favourite not-at-all-stretchy Better Bodies gym pants. I did not know the PT I am trying was planning for deep squats that day Anyway I got help from my Cantonese speaking friend to leave them at the hole-in-the-wall across the street, Peel St. Cost $30 which was nothing for all that work but I could almost not get them out a few days later (the woman I left them to was not there). Had to get the dry cleaner guy come and translate. |

| I went along to Pottinger St this afternoon and asked a few people in the stalls but no-one seemed able to help (I had the boardshorts with me) - most of them just shook their heads and waved me away. The only person I could see who actually looked like he repaired clothes was the old dude on the right about halfway along as you go up the street... he too waved me away when I tried to explain what I wanted. So I'll try some more of the suggestions above, such as worldwide plaza, but if anyone has any other ideas (specific shops/stalls would be great) they'd be much appreciated... ttw |
