I think it would take either Donald Tsang himself, or maybe his wife, to keel over stone dead from air pollution before anything is done.

Let's face it, if there was money to be made from clean air, HK would be the cleanest place on the planet.

I came back from the most beautiful weather in Vancouver to this.. Immediately I got a sore throat and stuffy nose. Drinking some 24 herb tea is helping, but god it's gross outside. It should clear up closer to the end of the week though. Fuck China.

Skyhook : Despite what folks say about you (kidding!) you're ok in my books if you are a fan of Midnight Oil.

while i do agree the factories add polution to the air....i dont think thats the big problem

the problem i see is every tom dick and harry (or Chang, Xing, and Wang ) are burning garbage in the yards and streets in china....and i see it more and more in HK streets too.

Thumbs up Midnight Oil kick mega ass ! :)

KIA, I am very big fan of Midnight Oil, have been since I was kid. I have all their LP's, EP's and CD's since they first started recording back in 1978. Few bands can match the sheer energy of a loyal crowd, that Midnight Oil had, and still has, if they should ever reform again.Pete Garretts doing his member of parliment thing these days, and doing a fine job he is too, considering the constraints he's under.

I'll leave you with this live gem.

it would take a catastrophy to really get people to wake up... honestly the street-level facilities like malls / bathrooms / public places like streets and even wetmarkets are a lot cleaner (even the water) than when i visited 10 years ago ... and definitely cleaner after SARS!! It's unfortunate, when it's this severe, the only thing that forces people to wake up is scare tactic... not beautiful images of blue skies on TV commercials promoting the environment...

I am hoping for a catastrophy of Olympian proportions in about a year, give or take a few days. Only international, public humiliation will get the Chinese to move on this issue.
