Dubai Noob

Hi folks...

I was invited to go to Dubai to join a fellow GF at her new apartment rented by her company for a weekend of drinking and partying ohhhhh Shopping...

Has anyone really been there besides business for personal leisure?

What is there besides the above?

What is worth checking out and bringing back for collegues and friends>?

I lived in Dubai for 6 years, its a fast developing city, almost 80 percent of the city is fake / man made:-( if you like to discover Dubai, her are some of th emust do things:

1. Desert Safari (Dhs.100/person - HKD200)

2. Dune Buggy Driving (Dhs. 180/person - HKD360)

3. East Coast Tour (Dhs.450/person - HKD900)

3. Dubai City Tour (Dhs.120/person - HKD 240)

4. Visit the world's 7 star hotel, Burj Al Arab (budget for tea is Dhs.400/person - HKD8000) you need to have someting inside for you to get access, unless your friend knows someone inside)

5. Visit the Madinat Jumeirah (nice to wonder around, they call it little venice in dubai)

6. Boardwalk Restaurant - Nothing special on th emenu, but it has a nice view

7. Visit the 3 Palm Islands, again if you know someone who can sneak you in

8. Get a heli ride so you can view the famous islands "The World" or a speedboat ride is good enough to see one of the islands.

9. Visit the Hatta

10. Visit the Emirates palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi

Basically, you can explore the 7 Emirates in a week or so. If you have time, you can also drive to Muscat Oman or go further to Egypt to see the pyramids, alexandria, Nile River, or to Jordan to plunge ito the red sea & if you have extra bucks you can see the entire GCC.

Let me know if you need any help, i have connections on the above mention places, I may be able to get you in FOC. I used to sell the above properties worldwide & opened a Tourism company with a friend, so basically i have a little idea on how it works....And, if you are kind, i maybe lend you my Land Cruiser or my BM Z4:-)
or - my brod & niece can drive you around. Yet again, it depends on who you are

Dubai is great, I used to live like a princess but now I'm in HK my lifestyle change - i become poor, hahahaha....
I liked it here, quality of life is different.

Ciao

Just go!

I looked at going there for Easter, but the hotels are not cheap to stay in. So if you have somewhere to stay, I say go for it.

There is heaps to do and see there. I am sure you will fill up your time with shopping, siteseeing, partying, etc.

One you say no to, is one you never have.

Enjoy!

Blowing my rent on a tea! That sounds too much. But then again, maybe I'm just a poor teacher.

opppssss, sorry - typhographical error, it's HKD800/-

MelissaM, PM me if you are going ahead & would like to see the inside of "Burj Al Arab"....I can even get you a free desert safari tour & some other tours just let me know....Maybe i'm just kind enough to extend my generosity (at some point my husband hates it)
so take advantage

Also, if anyone fancy of having a holidays / honeymoon in Maldives, Seychelles, Mauritius, India, Turkey, Malta, Cebu & Dubai - i can reccomend a good place to stay & will try to get a great discount.
