NickN is on a distinguished road
SCUBA Gear?

Scuba people: In your opinion, where is the best place to go to buy equipment? I just finished my theory and pool dives and will do my open water dives next week in Cairns. I probably won't buy all my equipment up front, but would like to get wetsuit, mask and snorkel and rent the rest for now.

Thx

I would go to Prodive on Lockhart Road - lots of equipment and the chappies behind the desk are really good and speak excellent English. Plus you may be able to haggle a bit off the rpice if you are buying a lot.

I would get some fins as well if you want to snorkel - makes life a lot easier.

Bunns in Johnston Rd are good for wet suits and fins. They make custom wet suits as well. I got one made there for HKD 2100, it fits like a glove.
For everything else I second Pekkerhead - the guys at pro dive are great and they service your equipment as well.
I'd recommend getting wet suit, mask, snorkel and finns in one package and regulator & BCD in another one.
Happy diving.

actually Bunns are alot more expensive than Prodive for most things. They're not the first place I would recommend anyone to go to.
