Shatin property

I will be moving to HK in late June / early July with my wife and baby son.

We need to rent a 2 or 3 bed apartment in or near Shatin for up to HK$15,000 per month. Any recommendations / advice?

Mike

Easy!!!!

With 15000HKD, you have many many choices in Shatin!

- Ma On Shan (many new apartment - 1000Sq ft = 10,000HKD to 12,000HKD) With nice Seaview

- Near Tai Po (somewhere on the hill)... over 1000sq ft, approx. 12000HKD/ month.

Actually, many many choices... I've picked Ma On Shan... good area, good view!!

Granvile Garden, Tai Wai - very popular with expats and convenient for transport. Royal Ascot near Fotan also popular. Quite a few places in Sha Tin centre but more expensive.

I live near Tia Po ( Ting Kok village ) in a brand new apartment - 2nd ( top floor ) with the roof for my exclusive use, so effectively a great play area for any children as it has high walls for optimum safety.

Mountain views to the rear and the sea to the front.

The main bedroom is ensuite in this ( rated as ) 700 sq ft, 3 bedroom unit.

Village houses are always a good thing to look at rather than town based high rises. The buses ( double deckers and the mini buses ) run every 5 minutes so you really don't need to have a car and is as good as when I lived in the Island ( Tia Koo ) with the MTR the same short distance as the bus stop. Distance for distance is cheaper too!

My rent ? HKD6,500. Typically rentals in the area are 5 - 6.5 K dependant on age and position near the sea view / ground , first , second floor. A heck of a saving for families on a budget.

Oh we also have safe cycle lanes all the way into Tia Po and a bike can be bought in excellent second hand condition here for HKD300 ( we have two ) so days out can be very open space and health orientated. There even rental bike " pedaloes " to take the smallest of children out for the day.

No I don't, I'm in another part of Tai Wai, but I know many people who do. One of only a few apartments that come with full size ovens in the kitchen!

Hi Boris,
I just move to hong kong from the US, I am looking for a relatively quiet place to rent. I read your post about your apt, I am wondering if you could refer me to any rental agencies or websites where I can find out more info about apt rental? Thank you.
My email is joyce615@gmail.com
