If it is the opinion that the pay is abysmal, then don't come, it is enough to survive and i never had a problem. Neither does anyone else year on year. I managed to travel to tons of places and providing I did not try and live some type of high life had no issue at all.

I am considering applying to work for Chatteris too. What is the difference between GELT and CNET? On their website it says there are job openings for CNET, but makes no mention of GELT.

I'm coming to work as a CNET for Chatteris next month - interesting to hear the differing opinions. I'm really excited about moving to Hong Kong, can anyone offer any advice on which areas to look at moving to on the kind of limited budget I will have? Cheers

Before I came to Hong Kong, I applied at Chatteris through the TESL company I went to in Canada. Chatteris told me that my TESL certificate wasn't a great concern to them and it didn't matter what degree I had. They said it was more important my interest in teaching etc.

I thought it was funny they wanted me to teach English but didn't care much about my qualifications to do so.

Also when they told me how much it would pay I almost choked. Found a job the day I landed here that paid double no problem. That was 2 years ago, so maybe they have changed.
