Ladies - Swimming Pool Etiquette

Ladies,

Does anybody know what the common attire is for us at public swimming pools?
is it ok to wear a bikini? i've never felt uncomfortable wearing one at public swimming pools in other countries but haven't gone to a public swimming pool yet in Hong Kong.

I know that it's common to wear bikinis to the beach, but then my male personal trainer informed me that at swimming pools it's more appropriate to be conservative and that girls either wear a one piece or wear a t-shirt on top of their bikini, because there are a lot more leerers here in HK since cleavage is so rare here, hahaha. If it's true that most would feel uncomfortable wearing a bikini here, then guess I'd have to go get a one piece but from your experience is it necessary?...

Any advice?
Thanks in advance! :-) happy swimming!

ingenue will become famous soon enough
I'd think you'd probably be more comfy wearing a bikini in a private pool (eg. at your apartment complex), rather than at a public swimming complex. As you mentioned, HKers in general seem to be rather conservative dress-wise, so they'll probably break their necks trying to get a glimpse!

Wear whatever you think you'd be comfortable in...if you're all right with people staring at the public pool then go right ahead hey?

I just feel more comfortable in a one piece. Most of the girls I see wear a one piece - locals as well as expats. I think it's really up to you. If you are comfortable in a bikini and don't care about the pervs just go ahead. You could also check out how most of the other women are dressing if you don't want to be the odd one out.

I can't wait for the public pools to open

A lot of the local girls don't want too much tanning. But I'm happy for you girls to wear as little as possible.

when I was wearing a bikini in the club pool I was stunned that initially people are so dumb and enjoy staring like I was an ailen with spots all over my body!

But after a while I just ignore them... perverts or not... they are just dumb...if they wanna see boobs or arse there are always a lot of books , magazine and DVDs on it.. so screw them...
