Question Now Broadband wireless setup?

Hi

Wonder if any of you techie bods may be able to help me.

I have got Now Broadband set up, but would like to have a wireless network set up.

I kind of already have a wireless set up going. Basically I've connected my now broadband box to my ADSL wireless modem / router that I brought over from the UK.

The wireless does work, but it requires me to log on to Now through my computer (i.e. the broadband dial up) each time I want to connect to the internet.

Is there a way to enable it so my internet connection is on all the time? Reason I want this is so I can have my SIP phone running the whole time.

Many thanks!!

Go into your router conifg and set the internet connection type to PPPoE and then type in your user name and password.

Check that your router is allocating ip addresses (DHCP) and your computer's internet connection should be receiving allocated ip addresses (DHCP).

The problem is that what you have is an ADSL router. That is designed to plug directly into the phone line, which works in the UK, but here Now requires that you use their modem. I suspect that what you need to do is somehow disable the ADSL capability of your router so that it functions simply like a normal router. Never having had one I'm not sure how you would do that.

But I think others have reported giving up on trying to get a UK ADSL router to work here and have gone and purchased a new straightforward wireless router.

router setup

You may need to delete/disable the ADSL dialer software in the PC...

In IE got to Tools>Internet Options...

Click Connections Tab:
If you have Netvigator Dialer (or some other) in the 'Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings' you should remove it - otherwise it'll keep trying to use that when you open IE...

Good luck
