| | Hire a Yacht in or around HK So much water around HK and I couldn't find a place to hire a yacht around here...Has anyone else?
I have some experience with yachts 30-45ft cruising in Europe and Canada and was looking for a place to hire a yacht around HK, since I am now living here.
Also I'd be interested to hear about any sailing activities going on here. I havce checked out the websites from the Yacht clubs, but it seems to be a bit upscale...

| | | Most yacht clubs have rentals as well, so your best bet is to call them up directly to ask for availabilities/fees. I would start with the Deepwater Bay sailing club and move up from there. I know they have excellent lessons and courses... You might also think of leaving little ads on the postboards of the clubs saying you are a willing and experienced crewman... People are always looking for crew...

If you want to pilot/crew your own vessel you will more than likely need to join a club or buy into a group. Additionally you may need to be certified.
Not sure what neighborhood your are in but check the marina near you, CWB, Aberdeen, etc, slip managers are knowledgeable and will help you find what you are seeking.

| | | Hey thanks! However, I'd rather just do a bareboat charter - I am certified and I only need a boat...Joining one of the yacht clubs sets you back abou 1200HKD / month plus you pay a fee when you want to join. Thats not exactly what I was looking for. Isn't there something like a charter company that would rent out sailing boats? | |

| | | You don't have to join a club to rent a boat from them! | |

| | | Yes I think so. I wouldn't start with the most exclusive/expensive clubs and work my way down, though, I would do the opposite. RHYK and the AMC would be the last on my list!

| | Try Aberdeen Boat Club (the much-less-expensive club right next to the Marina Club in Aberdeen). They hold sailing regatta's for club/non-club members. They also hold sailing lessons for both club and non-club. I'm not sure about rentals/crew opportunities. Anyway, ask 'em...worst case they might be able to recommend somewhere else... http://www.abclubhk.com/ | |
