Hello, i was wondering if anyone who is on a dependant visa (no work permitted) has set up company in hong kong or as a sole trader and how you went about it. I'm all ready to set up but want to know if anyone can recommend a good accountant or if I should go company and see if i can sponsor myself or just go sole trader and see if immigration will change status.

any ideas?

When did you get your dependant visa and what is the status of your sponsor?

If you are a dependant visa on someone who has an employment visa before the 1st July 2003 then you can just go ahead and establish your business.

Hi.. I'm a little confused from the above thread. Could someone please help clarify this for me.

My husband is on an employment pass for HK (applied pre Jul 03), I am on a dependant's pass (applied post Jul 03). I understand I am not allowed to work in HK without sponsorship however from the tread above.... does this mean I am still able to set up my own company and conduct business in HK? If so... how do I go about this?

If anyone can help shed light on this... I'd be most grateful! Thanks!!!

What I meant was if both the e/v applicant and the dependant applied for a visa before the 1st July 2003.

If a dependant applies after the July 1st 2003 then they would need to apply for an investment visa.
