| | | HK Passport?? Hi everyone
I currently hold a HK ID card and have a British passport.
Since I already have a HK ID card is it possible to obtain an adittional HK passport.
Does anyone know where this can be done and how long it takes.
Thanks | |

| | | | hello Is there a reason for that? You would have to give up your Biritish passport if you would like to do this. | |

| | | The only people who may not object to you holding two passports is the Canadian government, as they allow dual nationality. That said, you won't experience problems at their end, but you will at THIS end, where the local government does not quite share the same idea as their Canadian counterparts..... | |

| | | I believe that the situation is that to take HK (=Chinese) citizenship (and hence passport) you have to sign an undertaking that you do not hold any other citizenships, on pain of having the Chinese citizenship revoked if discovered. Many people feel able to sign such an undertaking even though they do in fact hold a second nationality (normally from a country which permits dual nationality explicitly). I have never heard of a HK/Chinese citizen being "discovered" and having their Chinese nationality revoked as a consequence.
There are more detailed checks if you want to do something like stand for legco or be Chief Executive.

| | | Question This discussion is interesting. I am a Canadian and Malaysian Citizen and holding dual passport. If i am to enter HK with my Canadian passport without an exit stamp from my last travelled country (for example Singapore as I will be using my Malaysian Passport), will HK let me in for a few days on my way back to Canada? Will HK treat me as a new visitor on my Canadian Passport without asking too much about where is my exit stamp? | |

| | | Don't know for sure, but HK immigration seem to be fairly liberal about dual passports of other countries, barring sensitive cases. There are places (not in Asia) that don't exit-stamp your passport, so I'd think they may not be that interested in such exit stamp. I stand in the residents' queue, so this may not apply to you (don't know, perhaps it does), but they seem to ask for boarding pass only on the way out and never on the way in.
Anyone out there who can provide better and more specific info to catpan?

| | | Catpan, it must be a very discreet cat and mouse game, with the other passport being Malaysian!? | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 08:24 PM. | |
