Can anyone help me with renting a golf buggy in Discovery Bay

Just moving to DB in the fall. We were told that buying a golf cart would cost 800,000HKD?! Can that be right? What would renting one cost? Are electric bicycles or scooters allowed? Is is reasonable for a mom and stroller to get around without a cart?

If you want to know about renting a buggy, or using an electric scooter: Call the DB Management Office.

DB is a privately owned community, and they set rules to maintain a safe and comfortable community.

Electrical bikes and scooters are not allowed in DB (same as in the rest of Hong Hong). We had a message on the notice board that someone got caught and fined for using an electrical bike in December.
Prices for golf carts are really around 700.000 - 750.000 HK$ - you actually pay for the license, they are sought after because City Management won't issue any new licenses.
Golf carts can be rented for about 6.000 - 7.000 HK$ per month. Have a look at the notice board in Parknshop.
How you get around with a stroller really depends on where you live. There are buses between the villages and the Plaza and hire cars (long waits at times), strollers have to be folded inside the buses.
It's of course easier to get around if you live within a walking distance to the Plaza.

There are also hire cars that you can book and ride with if the buses are not convenient enough. The hire cars are more or less mini buses that work like local taxis, and pick you up and drop you of where you want to go.

Don't know the cost as I live close to the plaza, but bet you can ride with them quite a lot for the cost of a "gold cart".
