| | | Stuff from New York / the US hello guys, a good friend of mine is arriving this weekend from New York and wants to know what i want. apparently i've left NY for too long, because i can't think off the top of my head if i need anything from there!
i really want White Castle, but obviously we'll rule out food since that's just silly. an American friend of mine suggested Dayquil/Nyquil which i thought was BRILLIANT, as OTC cold medicines here are weak and rubbish.
anybody else have smart ideas for me? please help refresh my memory of the day-to-day items that i miss from living in New York!

| | | I could use a pack of Newports...hehe.
Food is probably the one thing I miss most. Jamaican beef patties, pizza, calzones, knishes....I'm drooling over here
Underwear is another thing...and plain t-shirts. I can't get Hanes wifebeaters here, and it's hard to find t-shirts in 3XL.
Just thought of something else: BEER. I can't get Red Stripe, Presidente or Carib here. A 40 of St Ides or Old English would be good too. Bagels! I brought 20 bagels back from a spot in the East Village once.

| | | OHMYGOD BAGELS!!!!!!!!!
i MISS a good ol' bagel. and coffee from the local coffee carts...where else in the world can USD$1.25 get you a cream cheese fresh-baked bagel and a coffee in a Greek-designed paper cup???
and yes to all the food you mentioned...sigh...too bad he won't do it...he doesn't want to deal with freezing it and worrying about it getting mushy and gross by the time he gets off the plane.
Olde English is GHETTO. hello college days!
no wifebeaters needed for me since i'm a girl.
BUT OH MAN, THE FOOD!!!!!!!

| | | I wouldn't mind some of those Greek-designed cups you're talking about. It would be cool to walk around with 'em..hehe.
Another thing I haven't seen recently is brown paper bags, aside from the ones at McDonalds...
If I was going to fly with frozen food, I'd stick it in an insulated bag and stick dry ice or freezer packs in there. My dad used to bring us the finest Norwegian smoked salmon and Beluga from Switzerland, and that's how they packed it...

| | | Yeah I've brought durians from Singapore to HK and packed it that way. But like I said, I'm really wondering what I could use from NY, that wouldn't be too much hassle for him to pick up between now and Friday, when he leaves.
I thought of Victoria's Secret 5-for-$20 underwear but didn't think he'd jump at the idea of having to pick /em up :P
