Fitness at a reasonable price !?

Hi !!

Does any of you know a reasonable priced fitnesscentre that accepts short term membership (2 months) ??
I went to California Fitness yesterday - just to get an idea of the pricelevel. The girl at the frontdesk actually smiled when she said: "Oh yes, that will be 1500,00HK$ per month"

Mainly I intend to use it for running.....

If you intend to run, there's a good track that goes around the racecourse in Happy Valley, and it's free.

1500 to run???? Why don't you ask them what is the rate for walk in? I'm not sure if it's the same in HK. I had a gym membership with Fitness First in Spore and they did 3 months' contracts.

You have to bargain at California. I got a 3-month membership at the one in LKF for a little over $400 a month. That being said, I'd never join a California fitness center again. I'm very happy with Fitness First.

Seasons is great too, and the added advantage of Seasons is that they have a pool to use. Additionally, if you like to run outdoors, you can cross the footbridge, run in HK Park, then run back to Seasons to shower.

Should have just smiled back and said...."well, in that case you can take your 1500 and shove it up your (unmentionable)"

Seriously, ever considered the government facilities? You do need to be a local HK ID card holder to be a member but I've been told that the facilities are available if you pay them a deposit.

Thanks all of you for your replies...

Yes, I did consider to run in the open - just think its a bit inconvinient to start up from my home adress on Lockhart Road.
However, Hong kong park is not fare away so maybe I should try out that sollution.

Also, ill try to ask Seasons and Fitness first for a 2-3 months membership....

More good advice should be wellcome....

You have to pass a fitness assessment to use the govt. facilities, but it's no big deal. Just make an appointment through their website.

Hi Jay, Could I ask do they have a jacuzzi in four seasons?

For your info PePe :I am with Fitness First Plus for 650 /month.

I know they def have one month memberships - because I was tempted on that when i first joined just to make sure i liked the facilities. but when you are doin a one month thing its about 700 - 800 a month.

nevertheless still you need to bargain with them. the thing I hated was that they dont have a propper printed out price list, giving you more reasons to barter.

Oops I forgot to mention, I did have a joining fee of about $500, so my first pay out was $1150.
