| | | No rental Receipts Hello, my employer is very strict with its rental reimbursement allowance doucmentation and will only accept original reciepts from the landlord. My landlord refuses to issue rental receipts and will not answer my calls (I just auto pay the money into his account each month). Is there any other method I can use to meet the requirement to provide receipts? I have issued a stamped tenancy agreement. | |

| | | The landlord is probably avoiding the payment of property tax on the rental income. Shop him/her. Do as KIA suggests and stop paying. Ask your employer's HR department if it is OK to back claim the rent at a later date. | |

| | | Well that's really an annoying situation !
Yes, do cancel that auto pay but do you have time to pay a personal visit to the landlord? Usually face to face people here are quite rational.

| | | Surely the bank info is enough. We just gave our HR people a copy of the contract and a copy of the automatic payment form for the bank and it was sufficient. We have never got anything from the landlord. I know they need to do it by the book but I think my company would be so this must be a suitable option. Maybe check with your company again. | |

| | | No luck. HR are playing hardball and will not accept the bank statement, and the agent got in touch with the landlord who refuses to issues the recietps, grrrrrrr Basically they have told me I am screwed withour the reciepts or a landlord letter, so there goes that money down the drain.
Let this be a lesson to all new people in HK, definitely agree the issuance of reciepts on your lease.
Assuming they are trying to avoid paying property tax. Maybe I should send an annonomous letter to the tax department, I have the landlords HKID number.....

| | | My landlord was very open about this when I moved in and he explained that he would not issue official receipts as he does not want to declare the income to the Gov't. | |
