C'mon PDLM...."there are far, far better places around to get a full breakfast" ... happy to concede, but please expand.

There is nothing better than banter about and discovery of good breakfast places.

Years ago you could rely on the Old China Hand serving up an English breakfast. Now it caters for the past-it gweilos, past happy hour and past caring who they take home.

Discobay - I agree 100%. Over the yeras, the old china hand used to be a great breakfast place. It's all gone pear-shaped...

I've been to The Flying Pan a few times in Soho.

Its good for a big breakfast - I like their omletes. Most things come with a juice and 2 sides of your choice (baked beans, potato, mushroom etc). They also have a flying pan breakfast which comes with eggs, bacon, sausage and choices of 2 sides - which is good for a really big feed if you are hungover or hungry. They also have pancakes I think, although I haven't tried them. The coffee is only so so / americano style though.

Well worth tryng I think.

Clarification on GREAT !!

For those of you who are hankering for an American "diner" experience, The Flying Pan is GREAT for that.

I hope this puts the use of the word GREAT into context.

The way I see it is the place serves the purpose. A decent filling open all the time egg eatary. Good for food after you've been out and good for a brunch when you have that egg craving.

Flying Pan

... maybe safer to try it on a weekday when the angry lady is not there... if your looking for grub then fine, but if you expect a smile with your bacon. think again

It's reasonable and you have loads of options. I go to the Flying Pan once in a while. Great place to fuel up. I tend to eat a lot on my journey to greater muscle mass.

Their coffee is like brewed cardboard though. A friend of mine and I were at the one in Wanchai, and we were really disappointed by the coffee. When I heard about the DB Flying Pan, I told her she'd be able to get her cardboard fix before getting on the ferry.

DB Frying Pan - not as greasy as the others?

I had breakfast at the DB Frying Pan last week and was pleasantly surprised by the presentation of the food but a bit disappointed at the size of the portions. My past exposure to the Frying Pan is limited to the Soho outlet after long nights partying and perhaps that impacts my memory but somehow I remember the food there to be more greasy and more filling than what I ate in DB last week.
