Liquidity of HK stocks

Liquidity of HK stocks

I have started buying some stocks with my HSBC account. What strikes me is that the Bid/Ask quotes for major stocks seem to stay the same for minutes at a time, whereas in the US they would typically fluctuate from second to second. Is the market really so illiquid or does it have something to do with the HSBC quote system?
