Seeing Lamma Island with a dog

Hi

We are planning to head out to Lamma for a weekend. How dog friendly is the ferry and everyone out at the island? Are there restaurants that welcome dogs? Suggestions? Are there beaches that allow dogs?

thanks

Dogs are allowed on the ordinary ferries, but not the fast ferries. So that means to some sailings to Yung Shue Wan only. Well-behaved dogs wouldn't be a problem at many of the outdoor type restaurants, but I would guess not welcome at indoor places. Dogs are allowed on any beach that isn't a "gazetted" beach - i.e. except the ones that have lifeguards, shark nets etc. I think there's only one of them on Lamma.

jen24 is on a distinguished road
there's only one dog friendly beach on lamma. if you want to stay over - concerto inn is a dog friendly b&b and they also have a restaurant which allows dogs. it's also about a 10 minute walk to the dog-friendly beach - i forget it's name - sorry!

the ferry is dog friendly, but yes only the slow ferries. and you have to sit at the back in the open-end section. so if u wanna sit, bring a towel / beach mat. makes the journey a little more comfy, when sitting on the floor.

as soon as you get offf the ferry they'll be lots of, off the leash dogs, which is great. a little scary at first, as they wander round without their owners, but none of them that i've met have been vicious to any of my 2.

the walk from the ferry to the inn / beach is only about 15 minutes and is actually quite a nice walk.

have fun!

There are actually only two beaches on the island which aren't dog friendly- the one in front of Concerto Inn (Hung Shing Yeh) and further down the island (Lo So Shing) which, as PDLM pointed out, have shark nets, lifeguards etc.
The slow ferry has some seating at the back- it was restored after complaints by the dope smoking hippies who inhabit the island.
All of the restaurants will let you have dogs in the outside areas but only a few inside. For seafood I would recommend the Lamcombe, pub food Diesel's (opposite each other), vegetarian Bookworm, curry at Spicy Island or anything that takes your fancy.
Just clean up after your dog!

Thank you all

THanks for everyone input. It's probably too cold to go this weekend. We might try it next weekend.

thanks.
