Lights for high quality photography

Trying to get a lighting set up, so that we can take better quality photos of our products, but I don't know where I can buy the light fixtures. I looking for the following:

XL 2300 2 Cool Light Softbox Kit (2) Softbox lights 1150 watts each (2) stands. Nice and powerful 2 light set up for digital film photography or video. Power adjustable 3 way with economical and robust florescent spiral bulbs for long life and greater breakage resistance versus more expensive and more fragile florescent tube lights.

Contents:
- 2 PLC 1150 Fluorescent Light Head s with power cords (Power Adjustable 1/3, 2/3, Full)
- 24 Fluorescent Daylight Bulbs 24 watts (color temperature 5000K)
- 2 Softboxes 30" x 22" with removable front diffuser panel included
- 2 8 Foot Compact adjustable light stands
- 1 Year Equipment Warranty, glass bulbs guaranteed to work upon arrival

I got this from a US company, but I want to buy it over here. Can anybody recommend a shop to buy this stuff?

you can find good lights on Stanley St (first & second photo shops on the right from the escalators). I've been using no probs for a year.
Also I have two for sale, Bolite 300B, with one softbox and one honeycomb spot (perfect for smaller product shots), 8ft stands, PM if interested.

ok, this is going to be vague, but i think you can work it out

on the pedestrian walkway near wanchai station, on the way from the station to immigration tower, if you look to your left, you can see into the window of a shop that sells an abundance of photography lighting stuff, reflector, strobes, soft-boxes. most of them are made in china and quite cheap. I cannot remember the name or address, though i have browsed there a dozen times.

otherwise they sell very similar stuff in Aplui St, Sham Shui Po for about half the price. Just have to be lucky they have what you want on the day you get there. Not on a street stall but in a fixed shop, on the left as you head down Aplui St towards Nam Cheung (?) Rd.

Oh this is great! I've been looking for lighting equipment and other photo items since I got here. So far there are 3 suggestions:

-Stanley St on right side of the escalators (I'm guessing it's in Central? I'm still learning that area... How far up the escalators and what are the stores called?)

-Pedestrian walkway near Wan Chai station (I'll check it out one of these days and get the name)

-Aplui St. in Sham Shui Po (is this half the price of the Wan Chai place... or half of MSRP?)

Oh and are these stores only selling lighting equipment or also other photo items like lenses and camera accessories? I remember going to a camera store at TST to get a quote on a Canon lens and it was a lot cheaper than the prices back in the US or at any of the online stores.
Thanks!

yes in Central, and barely up the escalators at all, quicker to remain on street level. Stanley St is the first road parallel to Queen's Road Central.
BUT from other posts, I think you'd get a better deal in Sham Sha Po, central is always more expensive!
Don't know what the shops are called but you can't miss them, lots of 2nd hand camera gear. I tried to sell a bunch of stuff there last week but they wouldn't take it, they really only want absolute pristine stuff. Which bodes well for the quality of their 2nd hand merchandise!

Hung Hom Photo Lighting Shops

Visited 2 Photo Lighting Shops in HungHom.

1.Universal Electronics Ind
Store 2 Ground Floor
Hok Yuen Street
(inside HungHom Commercial Center)
ph ; 2333-9291

2.Falcon Eyes Retail Shop
is right above store #1 in the same building, 2nd floor.
note; the address listed on FalconEyes website is a wholesale office location.

FalconEyes by far has a larger selection, but i would check out the website first and put a list together before visiting the shop. The shop is small and crammed full with things , so its hard to really look around. Also some Cantonese language skills might be necessary.

Universal is a small shop, smaller than Falcon and its product line is geared more for smaller product shots which included boxes and larger lighted tables. Some strobes, flashes and light stands as well.

I have a couple price quotes in, but don't have a response to list as of yet.
