Am I correct in assuming that I will be shielded from the risk of US$ decline if I invest in funds (albeit US$ denominated) that hold globally diversified stocks and bonds? What about US listed stocks, as long as the companies operate globally?

Like most investing answers, I think this one is "it depends". US importers are hurt, exporters benefit. The opposite for foreigners doing business in the US. Some companies will have hedged the currency, others won't have. Some "global" funds have most of their money in US companies, others don't. A small dollar decline okay, a collapse probably not. Some global commodities are priced in dollars anyway.

So whether a stock or fund is denominated in US$ is irrelevant? It depends on the underlying activities of the company or the components of the fund?
