hello, i'm a canadian university student and will be having a 10-week internship [no housing allowance] in hong kong. i could stay 3 months if it's difficult to find 10-week housing.

i don't have any friends or family there, so am quite lost as to how to go about finding accomodations. does anyone have recommendations for where to look for reasonably priced lodging with fast and easy access to the CBD? and do many places require downpayments and interviews/references?

i require:
- air-conditioning
- kitchen preferred but not necessary
- private bathroom
- wifi
- proximity to late-night food places!

i've looked at some hostels, but am not sure how far they are from my work. also, how long would it take to commute from kowloon to the CBD area every morning, and when is the last ferry at night?

i can't find the edit button, but just wanted to add some things:

my internship is from mid-june to mid-august, so when would be a good time to start searching? i saw someone reference "empire suites" in causeway bay and it looked pretty decent. could someone review this place and comment on the facility of public transport (or cost for taxi fare) to CBD?

let us know how this one goes, im interested in getting some cheap accommodation too. Moving over in Aug/Sept and hoping to stay as long as i can make money.

3bg : there are several laundries in most areas where you can drop your clothes off and have them wash / dry by the weight.

Dry cleaning varies depending on the chain you use, but is very reasonable.
