http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockatoo I still think its the monkeys. We lived across from Bishop Lei and could hear them. A friend lived on Arbuthnot Rd and could hear them too. I wouldn't be surprised if you could hear them on Old Bailey. |

| While I dont have the rooftop apartment, I can still get up there. It is probably the perfect spot to poach this socalled Indigo Magaw Tit Orangutang bird. And it is definitely not the same noise as the Blue Magpie |

| Heard it last night singing in the rain. If the noise was coming from the monkeys they were definitely doing the nasty. |

| Or .. (wait till you hear this) the parrots have started immitating the monkeys doing the nasty! If our parrot can mimick the sound of our mobile phones.. I'm sure the ones in mid levels can do mating sounds. |

Reading the wikipedia article... There is a feral population of these birds in Hong Kong. No kidding. The large group has apparently developed from a number of caged birds that have been released into the Hong Kong skies over many years. Note the term "large group"... The Yellow-crested Cockatoo is critically endangered. Numbers have declined dramatically due to illegal trapping for the cage-bird trade. The current population is estimated at less than 10,000. It is listed on Appendix I of CITES. Hang on. This "critically endangered" bird has a "large group" in Hong Kong... There seems to be an obvious solution to the problem here... Either get some greenies over to capture the "large group" and return them to their natural habitat, or maybe some of those illegal trappers could get over to Soho and do their illegal trapping thing... |

| It was a huge conflict for me to have to leave mid levels because of the bird/s. Here I am one of the hugest animal lovers and it was driving me nuts. It was every single morning of my life I just hated it. |

| Did you really leave mid-levels because of the birds? Seriously? |

| Yes I honestly did. I had asked several friends within say a 1/4 mile radius and they could all hear them too. I was at the far end of Robinson road at the time in mid levels. It sounded like the bird/s was 20 ft away from my window. |
