Just wondering if anybody tried the region-free modchip called wiikey with their wiis yet ?

I heard they're available in Sham Shui Po already ...

I've seen Wii's at SSP and Wan Chai that are hacked supposedly and have a DVD-ROM put in them and run games off a DVD-R. Anyone want to confirm this?

Woo really? I have just bought a Wii ( US version). Does it mean if it is chipped, I can play both Jap and US games?
How much does it cost to get it chipped?

From what i understand about the chip capabilities are :

can play both jap and US games (wii and gamecube)
can play both jap and US backup games (wii and gamecube)
not 100% compatible with PAL systems (play jap and US games)
upgradeable firmware

Oh and another thing ... the cost to get your unit modified is HKD 450 based on the store I inquired about.

Have to leave the unit and come back after a few hours.

I am planning on getting a us verision wii at golden arcade- (SSP) which I understand is more expensive. Do I understand correctly that now I can be a japanese version modified wii that can play us and jap games? Will it be cheaper thant the us version? Also when i turn on the unit will it be in japanese or in english?

Hang fire as the price will drop as its literally just out.
Price should drop in a week or two.

also found out PCCW is in talks to be HK distributer for wii....and proices will drop after about 2 more months...
