Time for a change

I have lived in the USA all my life. I have had the luxury of traveling the world thanks to my various business endevours.

No matter where I go I find my heart always leading me to Hong Kong.

I have had many changes in my life recently and I am considering moving to Hong Kong for a fresh start.

Although I do not have a college education, I have a ton of life experience includung sales, manufacturing, and the like.

How difficult would it be to pick up and move to HK.

I do not speak mandarin or cantonese but I am a quick learner.

I would love feedback from anyone that has just picked up and relocated on a whim.

Unless you have the right of abode here, you can't just move to Hong Kong without a visa... how do you intend to get one? You don't sound like you have the qualifications that ImmD normally looks for, plus you don't have a sponsor.

Unless of course you have US$1M+ that you can bring with you - then it's straightforward.

Thanks for the reply.

Let's assume I have no issue with immigration.

Is it possible for an American to go to HK, find a job, and live life?

Yes sure its possible but be prepared to start at the bottom if you have no college experience and work your way up unless you have a shedload of work experience to fall back on.

Depends what kind of job? If you are qualified to be a professional in some industry or took a TEFL to teach English you won't have a problem.

Other Mcdonalds and minimum wage jobs (ok, so there is no minimum wage, you get the idea) etc are an option as long as you speak and write Chinese. Which you didn't say if you do or not.
