Question phone, internet, tv, etc

I'm moving into my new place in a few weeks. The present tenant has asked if I want to transfer my name to her phone, internet, cable, etc package.

I got me thinking, what is actually on offer in terms for phone, internet, etc.

Where can I find information on the monthly rentals, which companies operate, etc.

Oh, one more thing, electricity company, is there only one, or do I have a choice?

Also any recommendations?

Thanks!!

No choice on any of water gas or electricity (there's more than one company for gas and electric, but they serve different parts of the territory).

Phone & internet have been discussed ad nauseam on the forums here.

I would be wary of taking over someone else's phone number - who knows what calls you might get...

Cheers.

Yep, phone, internet, etc has been discussed quite a bit. Am thinking about getting the Now package, with internet. However can't find information on costing for it.

There are many many deals - the best ones are often to be got from the guys who see selling it at kiosks on the street, in malls, etc.

I'm paying about HK$290/month for 6MB broadband + the movie (HBO, Cinemax, Star Movies) and sports channels (ESPN/Star), VH-1 & BBC World.

I would say find all your own. Because if it goes in to your name and there is a contract, but you find something cheaper/you prefer it is going to suck to pay to get out of it.

Package

Hey Guys,

I too am looking for a good media package. I already have free internet, so I am just interested in some choice channels. I would be a little weary of going to a random kiosk, unless some of you have done it without a hitch?

Have any of you tried any of the Now TV packages?

Any other leads would be helpful.

Cheers,

Now TV sucks, I highly recommend against it. The quality is terrible, it's slow, the interface sucks, the quality is REALLY terrible, the channels suck... did I mention the quality is terrible?

I'd switch to iCable, but Now TV is the only way to get Formula 1 as far as I know. Honestly you're better off to download your TV from usenet or torrents... The only time I watch Now TV (besides F1) is when there are no shows to download and there is nothing on TVB or ATV to have on in the background while making dinner, etc.

Thing is, isn't it the case with the Now packages I would have to sign up to a 24 month contract?

At least if I take over the present tenants contract, I only have to wait out the remainder (about 17 months) rather than paying a full 24 months (which seems quite long to tie you down for).

Am just basing the 24mnt thing on what I saw on their offers on their website, the offers required 24mnt commitment.
