Most electrical are relative cheap in HK and furniture as well. Not point spending money to ship them over.

Indeed, electrical and furniture are cheap. IMO, you better buy new furniture in Hong Kong because its size are not small tho. You can buy furniture that fit Hong Kong size of home in IKEA.

What I brought to come HK few months ago was clothings, notebook computers, passports, money, credit cards... lol

And you better open a bank account in Hong Kong and tranfer an amount of money once from your local bank, because the process fee is quite expensive tho.

Hope it helps!

Cheers
Tony

It's more what not to bring. Don't bring furniture or major appliances. About the only exception I'd say is a laptop (which is designed to get around already). A desktop if bought in the last 6 months maybe, otherwise I'd use the move as an opportunity to upgrade machines. Smaller things, like hair dryers, can openers, clock radios, etc. It's probably cheaper to buy a new one in HK than it is to deal with a convertor that will likely blow out in awhile anyway. Certainly not any 'white goods' like dryers or fridges as they probably wouldn't fit in your standard HK apartment.

If you look, you can get pretty much anything in HK that you can back home, but the sizes might be a bit smaller. If there are some toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, etc) that you have a particular fondness for, you migth consider bringing them (though most major brands can be found). Candy is also something you might want to consider, though some things can be found in HK. Same goes for ethnic food, like burritos or bbq sauce or butter/cheese popcorn salt from Alabama--anything that is really unique and regional you might want to bring over.

If you have someone paying for your return to your home, then seriously consider stocking up on some furniture in HK with an eye toward refurnishing your house back home. Certainly cheaper in HK.
