Falling objects hazard

I was walking along Lockhart Rd. last year and noticed a missing 2nd floor facade on a dilapidated building at 284 Lockhart Rd. with hanging flower pots and other objects right at the ledge.

I encountered a police constable in Causeway Bay and told him about this. A month later, I passed by the same building and saw that nothing had changed.

I then emailed the HK Police and received an acknowledgement that my message had been forwarded to the appropriate station.

It's been another month now and it's still in the same state!

Is there another department or agency that might actually do something about this?

The quickest route to getting something like that looked at is to call Apple Daily newspaper. Ask for the city desk and tell them or better, email them once you get someone to talk to.

you could try the district council for whatever jurisdiction Causeway Bay falls into (is it Wanchai?).

Good for you anyway. My son was injured by falling masonry in Tai Po last year. The police got involved but I guess it was only because the injury had occurred. The District council also helped out a bit and the building involved had the offending masonry removed afew days later. It was a crumbling old aircon ledge.

It was a bit like locking the stable after the horse has bolted, but clearly the building was still dangerous.

The guy responsible (the person whose flat it was where the stuff fell from) was prosecuted under "endangering passers by" and "failing to properly maintain buildings".

Maybe these numbers may help, at least someone there may be able to help you a bit more.
