Excelsior Hotel roof top... excellent view! They charge you 170 HKD per person - all drinks and a small outdoor buffet included... In the last couple of years there were also quite a few kids, and it was not too packed.

Not sure yet if I ' ll make it this year, a way too busy.

Have heard that there are some groups gathering for this, Kris and a few others will definitely be meeting for this. I'm with my parents so we'll be at a restaurant at 1 peking road. Hopefully that's good enough of a view! I think my office will have a great view - I wonder if anyone will be going there to watch it. Will be meeting up with them afterwards.

As a note, we'll also be going to salsa at Armani Bar afterwards if anyone else wants to join!

I'm thinking we'll be there around 9pm after the fireworks. Armani bar is located:

Armani Bar and Club
2/F., Armani/Chater House, 11 Chater Road, Central.
Free admission. Music from 8pm to midnight.

Next to the Mandarin Oriental.

Are we going to be able to see anything? I'm looking out my window at the harbour and can't see much, barely can see TST.

I made few enquiries:

Excelsior has unlimited beer, soft drinks and some snacks for $248 from 7:30 till 9:00 at the rooftop.
Viceroy (along with the others at SHK center) are doing intl buffet dinner for $295 with one standard drink on th terrace.

I would rather drink than eat, so Excelsior sounds good. But I am flexible and am happy to join any other plan. In either case, it is good to be there by 7:00 pm

Salsa afterwards sounds good.

back2hk - looks like we're going to just try out luck on the waterfront, since it will be a quick exit for us with the kid, once the show is over.

If its a quick exit then you should avoid the waterfront like the plague.

Chatham Path between May Rd and Barker Rd is far better especially if you drive.'

I plan to park at the tennis courts on Barker at least by 7pm .

or you could try west kowloon though a bit Far but very less crowded & more relaxing.
