Smile Relocation from US - Time and Cost.

Hi, I am relocating from the US (Eas Coast) to Hong Kong in around a month. Extremely excited and the Geoexpat forum has probably given me all the answers that helped me make the decision to move.

I need some help from folks who moved from the US.

a. Recommendations for good relocation agents
b. How long does it take for household goods to reach from here?
c. Approximate cost to expect.

I have a two bed apartment here that is fully furnished.

Thanx, Kram

hi kram...we just moved from MS to HK about 7 weeks ago.Santa Fe was our relo company and they've done a great job. It took about 6 weeks for our surface shipment to arrive (yes we just got our stuff last week!), but our air shipment was here in about 2 weeks (clothes and kitchen stuff mainly). hope that helps.

I would also recommend Santa Fe.

As I've said before- I used Links Relocations to get here from Dubai and they were great. I think their website is www.linksrelo.com. We dealt with an English girl called Mandy.

We relocated from US 6 months ago - used Allied Pickfords. Company paid for it so I don't know how much it cost, but we got everything VERY quickly. Air shipment was here in a week. Didn't have surface shipment, so can't comment on that.

Cheryl at Queens Property came highly recommended to us and we have been very pleased so far. Her associate Rynell took us around during a short look see trip recently as Cheryl is on vacation for the time being. Queens seems to be helpful with all aspects of the move, not just the house hunting. i.e. schools, relocation companies, maids, etc.

Where are you moving from? I'm moving from Boston to HK in about a month.

I'm using Prumerica, and so far am really happy w/ how it's going- it's staffed by Americans who know what it's like to be an expat, so I've found that helpful.

Good luck with the move. Drop me a PM if you want to hook up for drinks or something once we both land.
