Hi

Basically will need to move out of my serviced apartment at the start of March. My boxes have also arrived from abroad, I have left them packed up. I don't really need a moving company, more a man with a van who can pick up the stuff and help me shift them to the new flat. It would be about 8 boxes and a few bags.

Could anyone recommend someone, or recommend where to look to find such a service.

Also any idea of ballpark figure for how much someone would charge for this?

All those vans with Chinese symbols on the side and phone numbers are normally "man with van" companies so to speak. Depending on the distance you are looking for price can vary (and of course company also) I actually just used 23455511, I do have to warn you this company may not speak English. I tried calling and just toughed it out in Cantonese, but then there was one thing I couldn't say with the driver about location to deliver too and he called someone who spoke English at the company! strange!

In my case it was dirt cheap to move a 36 inch tv from Clear Water Bay(Sai Kung area) to Tsz Wan Shan (Wong Tai Sin area) about a 25 minute drive they wanted $86 which I am sure is going to be the cost of a taxi if I took a taxi with no TV.


23500000 is another one I see around, they speak English and originally quoted me just over $100 for the same move as above, but then called another night and the driver wanted $250 because he was busy and would need to do some bumping around.

Best part about these companies is they don't expect advance notice. Quite often you can have someone at your door in 20 min to 30 min.

Yes give as much notice as you can, Its roughly $100 or so for one trip.

Thats what I was charged to go from sai kung to hong kong station for the airport express last year.

If you want it now then of course you pay a 'premium'

also when I moved we gave about a weeks notice and they were cool with that.

I used this number a couple of times and it was straightforward - 25666857. There are 2 operators who answer calls and one speaks English though you may end up with a driver that doesn't, but both times they were helpful and even issued receipts.

wow, strange. I called a few and they said "You want now" I said,
"no, later". They said, "You call back later then". I asked, "How early?" and they said, "Maybe thirty minutes" Strange is all I can say. Oh well. $86 dollars for about 25 minutes drive including moving the stuff is not premium. So I got lucky.

It is not a premium, just the normal price for a van via calling centre . If you want a cheap service, just call the mobile# of these van driver(owner). South Asian driver is the cheapest in the van market & speaks ENGLISH.

Don't count on them helping. They may or they might not ... most of them will just drive and probably don't want to risk dropping something / injuring their backs.
