| | | How does dependant visa works? Dear all,
I've just been granted dependant VISA from the immigration of Hong Kong. But it is stated that the VISA is only good for single entry. It also states "for those who need to stay for a period of longer than 180 days, application for HKID is required".
Does this means that I will have to apply for HKID in my next trip to Hong Kong?
Anyway, I am looking into settling in Hong Kong. With this dependant VISA, can I start to apply for job vacancies?
thanks in advance my personal blog

| | | Hello!
I think all visas pretty much say good for single entry. My translation of that is you can only activate the visa once. IE I can't start my visa this week and then once it expires or later down the road re-activate without going through the proper channels.
From the time you activate your visa you MUST apply for a HKID card within 30 days unless it is for under 180days. Which being dependant I am assuming it is not.

| | | You can apply for any job you want provided that your visa isn't endorsed otherwise. (If the person you are dependent on is a HK Permanent Resident or on an Employment Visa in HK then you can work. If they are on a training or study visa then you cannot unless you get sponsored for an Employment Visa in your own right.) | |

| | Thanks
My sponsor is actually my wife. She is from Hong Kong. She carries a HKID.
I can enter Hong Kong and stay for 90days (with my current passport - Malaysian passport). I am currently working in Singapore and will be required to enter HK before 24 April 2007.
Can I apply for HKID regardless of the length of stay for my next trip? I could be staying in HK for less than 1 week, due to my current responsibiliries.
many thanks my personal blog

| | | You can apply for your HKID but they give you a temp. one for two weeks. You then go pick up your card and have one month to pick it up or your application is void. BTW being granted a dependant visa voids you of being able to stay in HK only 90 days. Make sure you go through the Resident channels in the airport. | |

| | | HKID application Thanks HKChigger...
what good does it offer if the HKID is only good for 2 weeks. I understood that the validity should be 1 year for the first time application and subsequent application, 3 years.
I am planning to go to HK by end of March as the visa expires on 24 April 2007. Is there any special arrangement for HKID application? Or can I just walk in and get the application done in a day 9working day)?

| | | they give you a TEMPORARY hkid that is valid for a short period of time. they also give you a date to pick up your real hkid card. if you do not pick it up within a certain length of time, then it is void and you must apply again. | |

| | OK... understand.
Can I authorize my wife to collect it on my behalf? Because the next trip I am in HK for a short period of time. I dont think so that I can stay too long in HK due to my working condition in Singapore.
best regards

| | | Yes you can, there is some paperwork involved and she will need to take some documents with her, but she would be able to do it. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 01:57 AM. | |
