diving here isnt all that great. viz is often poor, not all that much to see, but some days the viz is decent. go if you want, but you'll have better experiences in the philippines. all the boats leave from sai kung anyway

best diving is where there are known coral communities such as port island, tung ping chau, Hoi ha wan marine park and basalt island. easiest to get to is probably basalt island as it is just off the coast of Sai Kung. Other outlying islands will be more trouble as you will need to get on board with a company that has a boat.

Try prodive for outlying islands, or for immediate Sai Kung area (e.g basalt island) give Damon at Splash HK a call, he is based in Hebe Haven.

As mentioned above, HK diving is not the best in the world, but with the right conditions (the weather is really nice at the moment) it can be enjoyable and is by no means difficult diving. The Philippines will be much better, but no harm in getting a bit wet whilst over here as well, and you will get to see some nice scenery if you get to the outlying islands.
