the lcd on my ipod nano (first gen) just gave out - half of the screen is not visible now, though the unit is still functional...

i purchased this in September 2005 without any additional warranty/plans, so i'm probably SOL on trying to get it replaced for free.

so, should i try to get it repaired? if yes, where would be a good place to go? or am i better off just to buy a new one?

Try to get a quote on how much it would cost to repair. There are several apple products repair shop @ wanchai computer center. (wanchai MTR exit).

I just happened to be at '298' computer center @ wanchai tonite.
There is a computer support store there that says can fix the ipod nano LCD screen for $280 HKD.
