| Some general questions on career Hi everyone! I'm a student from Italy considering to settle down in China some day of my life, since I really like its culture and languages very much. I'm studying Mandarin since a few months, and, trust me, I'm really enjoying it! I also began university this year (undergraduate in Economics) and I thought that most career opportunities for this field would be in Hong Kong (also finance, business, and related). I have a few questions, some might be too general, others too specific - but I would really appreciate if you could give me any advice on my situation 1) Since it's Hong Kong, would it be better to start focusing more on learning the Cantonese language? 2) After skimming through some other discussions on this forum, I somehow got the impression that it might be safer if I first gained good work experience outside China, so that I won't be a total ignorant when I come to HK looking for my first real job. Do you think this is the case? Do you think those who are already "experts" will have more chances? 3) Would it be an advantage or a drawback if I tried to do my postgraduate studies (Master) in a university at Hong Kong? Or - just as I asked in question 2) - would employers prefer if I brought good experience from abroad? Okay, I already asked a lot Thank you in advance! |
