I am planning to go clubbing tomorrow (thurs) night but i hv no idea where to go... my friend said she usually goes to C Club.... what i am looking for is a club that plays mostly American top 40 and hip hop, but not so much house or techno.... with a fun crowd that actually dance.... so what do u guys recommend?

C Club can be really good, especially with the new DJ. Tomorrow's a good night to be out. Mooch, Sugar and Hei Hei play your top 40 hip-hop stuff too. There's a hip-hop thing going on on Friday at C Club. They're going to have two different DJs competing against each other (their resident dj vs. another one).

Hi Folks!

I a newbie.. yes here and in hongkong.

But the thing is in my country I have been and around all the clubs and bars and I realized that the Hongkong version is slightly weaker. It could be due to the fact that I am not local or that I do not know the movers and shakers..yet

Recently, MY collegues brought me to this Disco called HOT in Kowloon beside Reinssance and it was said to play HIP HOP. BUt when I was there I was simply stunned by the type of crowd and the drugs that was taking place so publicly.

The worst part it was playing Techno and not Hip HOP at all! Cos the phunks were irriating the DJ to play their kinda music.

Guess what I paid like USD$70 for a bottle of terrible red wine.

I have been to some clubs in Lan Kwai Fong but its more of chill out.. for me Im active I like to dance especially it helps releases the wild side in me . ( sorry not S & M or Porn)

So if u Dudes and Babes know where I can find a good Hip Hop Club in Hongkong please reply.

Everyone who knows me knows I'm a huge Insomnia fan (LKF). They have live bands that play top 40 stuff and Hip Hop plus a mix of older stuff (like Greenday). It's definitely not Techno. I will say though that all of it is still behind what I would hear in the US clubs. Everything is here! We're watching last season's America's Next Top Model! Ha Ha!

I have been listening to a lot of hip hop recently by Common.

I like this kind of hip hop, you know, a bit socially conscious, nice chilled out beat, good lyricist, clever samples etc...

BUT WHERE DO THEY PLAY STUFF LIKE THIS IN HK????

Thanks for the tips. I like Roots.... they did a cracking song with Erykah Badu a while back... superb. Will check out Immortal Technique also.

Try Volar (there's a hiphop room there) and Dragon-i on Wednesday nights...

From my limited knowledge of being in HK for only a month it seems there are generally not that many specialised clubs like you would find in London or New York.

It seems the music is very commerial / mainstream.

Nutta and Jayinhongkong I would be surprised if a club was to play the classic common tracks.

Other artist for you to look out for is Brother Ali, black albino. The track called forest whitaker is always a track that makes me laugh.

If you like immortal technique than you should also look out for Akir.

If you find a good hiphop club let me know.
