It will be tough to be honest.

Degree is usually the minimum they need unless you have some sort of skill/experience which is very hard to find locally.

What sort of sales experience do you currently have?

Which Country are you coming in from?

I assume you'll need sponsorship for a work permit? If so then chances are you won't get a sales role thats going to pay 20k a month basic which is the figure immigration quote that you need to be earning as a minimum before they would consider granting a permit.

Sponsorship for a work permit, It can only be done by an actual company that wants you to work for them.

It can't be done by a family member unfortunately.

And the only way it can be done on a dependant is if you're married to somebody with an existing working permit or if they're holding full hk i.d.

The experience you have in sales etc can easily be done by locals thus firms won't need to hire somebody externally for those roles, And they will also be paid a lot less than the 20k a month threshold too.

Sorry to say this but your chances are virtually zero.

Jimbo... since you are so knowledgeable can I ask how long does a person's dependent visa gets approved once they are married to a HK ID holder/ Citizen?

So does it mean that the said person will have a job easier given qualifications, skills and testimonials? And in that case what is the safest guideline for salary negoitation?

Thanks

Melissa, I'm not that knowledgable in these matters, Just repeating things which I come across and some gained from experience.

Dependants visa not too sure to be honest as I've never had to apply for one etc, shouldn't take too long if the necessary paperwork is in order, Should definately be quicker than say a work permit which is 4-6 weeks on average.

Best bet is to speak to immigration in Wanchai who could give you a definative answer.

With a dependants visa you don't need a work permit thus you're more flexible in which jobs you can and can't take. Without a work visa then you need to be on at least 20k a month and also prove that a local can't be hired instead of you.

Salary negotiations, thats a tough one depending on the role itself, with a dependants visa you can take on anything paying below 20k a month for example.

best bet is to check with agencies etc which advertise in the classified post and see what the payscales are for roles similar to what you wish to do.

Just don't price yourself out of the market and know what the company's competitors are paying for example, and look for something in that ballpark.
