Vietnam ideas Just wanted to ask for some recommendations for places to stay in Vietnam. I'm planning on going for a week. I'd like to stay in Ho Chi Minh city but then want to have a few days R&R before heading back. Anyone know any nice resorts/areas that are reasonable distance from Ho Chi Minh?

Mui Ne beach is lovely. It takes about 5 hours by bus from Ho Chi Minh and costs about $5 return!!! Relatively quiet and relaxing (for Vietnam) and there are amazing sand dunes there. I stayed in a place called the Mui Ne sailing club and it was about $50 per night but that is on the pricey side. You could probably get something very nice for much less. If you go to the Pham Ngu Lao bit of Ho Chi Min (the backpacker area) you will be able to get bus tickets. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info. Sounds like just the ticket! Can I just check that when you say $50 (a bit pricey) you're either a) talking US dollars or b) being funny!

Hoi An You have to check out Hoi An...a few hours by bus from HCM City. There are decent inns for less than US$30 per night. Really cool town. The inns are in town but it's also a resort place. The resort hotels are more expensive and further away from town although you can bike from those Resort hotels to town. I was just there in November and had a great time.

Am talking US $! But Vietnam is I think the cheapest place I have ever been to in Asia. Hoi An is really nice as well but is quite a long way from HCM - i did the trip in reverse and it took me 15 hours on a sleeper train. You can fly to Danang (about 25K away from Hoi An) though if you need to save time and don't mind spending a bit more money. Enjoy!
