| It is just a difference in culture. We are just subjects of marketing in whichever culture we are from. We do a lot of things that are as cruel as wearing mink. I am in Ottawa, so I will never wear mink, but my mum owns a bunch of them. There are rabbit fur trims on coats, rabbit fur scarfs, leather everywhere last year in HK. There are also a colony of plastic toys at the Chinese New Year fair. I donate to the humane society every month and I try to save plastic when I can, but I won't interfere with other people's culture. No culture is more superior than another, and the people who gets picked on know this. |

| I myself would not wear fur, but I see both sides to the story. Like nature intended, animals hunt other animals to survive (food chain), but we humans took one selfish step further by stripping fur of these poor animals for vanity and the non-necessities...nonetheless that is cruel. Something to think about: If one could just imagine their pets being skinned for making fur coats, belts, boots, couches...etc, than perhaps we would realize that you can live without a fur/leather coats, belts, boots... We have so many other great materials that can be used such as cotton, silk, chiffon, linen etc... I'm not a vegan, but I conscience of what I purchase, and my limit ends at fur. This is by no means of taking sides... BTW, there were mentions of minks being used up to its entirety...but what about tigers, racoon, beaver, chincillas, elephants (tusks) etc, do they used up to their entirety? | I notice Mr Mink farmer doesn't go into details of HOW the mink are killed. Last I heard it was pretty inhumane, and before you mention abattoirs I fully support any move to improve those as well. Finally I do think that there is a TEENY difference between food and vanity. |

| Bang on, Janet! Except that silk should be right there with the leathers and furs, if you remember how it's made! ....aside from a few exceptions like "Ahimsa silk" (assuming it's for real) and some rare kinds of wild silk? | was wondering, what's the difference between killing animals to eat them and killing animals to wear them? |

| native populations still see no difference. i think that it comes down to wanton killing of animals and whether or not they are killed humanely. |

| Stunned so they're rendered unconscious before having their throat slit is considered more humane |
