grocery delivery?

Is it possible to have groceries delivered? I am thinking specifically for when we arrive in Hong KOng at night and will be too tired to be shopping with small children, it would be nice to have a few things already at the apartment for evening and breakfast, except that we do not get our keys to apartment until we arrive, so ahas anyone done this before? Will serviced apartments allow a delivery to your unit before you are actually there? What stores have a delivery service? How do you pay? Credit card? I was sure I looked on this site a month or 2 ago and there was a whole area deticated to food, but can't find it now?

Delivery is no problem in general, but, for Wellcome at least you need to pay for the first delivery by cash/cheque before they will accept credit cards.

I guess I would try communicating with the serviced apartment people and see what they suggest.

I've ordered using a credit card from a whole other continent.. So that shouldn't be a problem

I prefer COD though, because a lot of the time the order will change from what you ordered, as invariably some things will be out of stock. Easiest just to pay the guy when he arrives.

Whether they will deliver when you're not home, you would need to arrange that with someone. Someone has to sign for the delivery and/or pay for it when it arrives.

These are simply not true, at least for Wellcome. Whenever something is out of stock (which is a lot less common than it used to be) the amount billed to my credit card is adjusted to be the correct amount. Moreover, if the revised order falls below the free delivery limit ($400) it doesn't matter - they don't charge if your original order was over $400.

And Wellcome will very happily leave your order outside your door if there is no-one home - there is a box to check on the online ordering if you are happy for them to do this. I do it frequently and have never had anything go missing.

welcome box

we stayed in Repulse Bay serviced apts when we first arrived and they gave us a welcome box with basics when we arrived. bread, milk, butter, jam, juice, fruit and i think some buscuits. I am not sure if this is normal or was arranged by our relocation agent who arranged for the apartment for us but you could ask them to organise something ??

I agree with PDLM, it should not be a problem. I started using wellcome online delivery about 3 years ago and just created an account and started using with a credit card from the very first time. As PDLM says, if the order changes the amount charged to your card is simply altered accordingly. You can ask them in the online delivery process to leave outside your door instead of requiring someone to sign and they will happily do this. And you can select time slots to ensure the delivery is as near to the time you will arrive in your apartment.
