Rechargable batteries in HK? Does anyone know where I can buy D-sized NiMH cells, or pre-built battery packs up to 6Ah? And preferably associated paraphenalia such as holders, chargers, wiring connectors, etc. I've tried the Wan Chai computer centre, but didn't find anything beyond rechargable AA batteries. I'm assuming there are small enclaves of electrical stores scattered about, but I don't know where.

Okay, I've just figured out that some of the more in-depth hardware stores carry D-cells. No luck on chargers though... is there a good general electronics area around besides Sham Shui Po (which is a bit far).

Thanks guys. Either of you know what the local equivalent of Radio Shack is? I'm looking for miniature switches, connectors and heatshrink wrapping. Trying to put together some portable lighting.

In case anyone does a search in the future: As recommended, Apliu St, Sham Shui Po appears to be HK's best source for rechargeables. NiMH in all standard cell sizes (AAA, AA, C, D) from 950mAh to 9000mAh. Available in stores and at a 20-30% discount on from the street stalls. The stores also sell: - NiCads - Sealed Lead Acid - Li (only for standard devices such as phones, cameras) Some of the street stalls also sell small Li batteries for remote controlled helicopters. There's also a remote control car place in Wan Chai on Wood Lane that sells rechargables. I'm sure there are other places which I haven't found. General hardware stores and Fortress sell NiMH cells but generally in a limited range of amperages. If you want something more customised, you can get some stores to wire cells together to your specs. Otherwise batteryspace has a much wider selection than anything I've been able to find locally. http://www.batteryspace.com/ Last edited by jgl; 31-01-2007 at 10:16 AM.
