wedding in hong kong

My partner and I are to be married in Hong Kong in late 2008 and we are still looking for a venue. Ideally, we would like somewhere with a view, possibly of the harbour, and we are looking to invite around 100 guests. We are coming to HK in Febuary 2007 and are hoping to have a few venues lined up so we can view them and see if they are going to be suitable. We would very much appreciate any input/ideas from anyone who has any experience of this or anyone who knows somewhere that may be worth a look. Thank you.

A lot would have changed between now and late 2008 as far as harbour views are concerned, given that there is some *major* construction going on in Central.

I'd recommend keeping the Cyberport / Le Meridien as a possible option.

Best to hire a competant wedding planner who can give you some suggestions and help co-ordinate.

I was in your position 6 months ago and went in Sept 2006 to look at hotels and book one.

We booked the Intercontinental Grand Stanford in TST which was ideal for what we wanted. It isn't in the middle of the harbour but has a decent side view of it.

You might want to try the Intercontinental Hotel which is right in front of the Peninsula hotel, although they were more expensive than the GS.

Its a good idea to look on the websites of the hotels as a lot of them have their wedding packages already on there so you know what you're getting, its just a case of seeing if you like the hotel and booking it when you go in February.

It is definitely worth making contact and pre-arranging visits with the various hotels so that you don't waste time if that is precious when you go. A very nice hotel was Langham Place in Mong Kok, their star room is on the top floor and looks out over Hong Kong from 3 sides, in the evening the ceiling lights come on and its like looking at the stars in the sky hence the name.

I'm not so sure on the island hotels as I am a Kowloon girl myself but I imagine the Four Seasons has a great view or the newly developed Mandarin Oriental.

Check the HK Convention Centre website, I think there may be a wedding convention there in February, definitely worth going and very handy for getting things discounted.

If you aren't to concerned about the view but still want an exclusive private place, I know of a place that might be able to give you a decent package deal and include a suite for the night or two.
It is in TST. It's a private place and the owner doesn't want it out to the public, so I can't post a link here. I stayed there for a few nights a year ago and it was worth it. I know they do events so a wedding party shouldn't be that hard if it's just a party with snacks.
Sit down dinners they can't do because of the space.
Also, we didn't have the view but when I got married, we had the party in the Jockey Club in Sha Tin. They had a pretty good deal for 15 tables.
If you want details on the place above pm me and I'll send you the link.

The Serenade Chinese Restaurant in TST (3rd & 4th) floors has good views of the harbour. You can hire the complete floor or just a section. The 4th floor hold up to 15 tables of 12 ppl each.

you could get a beautiful garden wedding with a sea view (not harbour) at Gold Coast hotel. hubby and i went by there a few months ago and they had the garden set up for a wedding. it was beautiful, with the marina in the background and the sea!

If you are here on the 5th of Feb you could go to the 46th Valentine wedding expo at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.
They will have a lot of companies advertising their venues.

lynx_virux will become famous soon enough
The Repulse Bay is also a nice place to have a wedding luncheon /banquet. At night, maybe the view is less attractive compared to those restaurant next to Victoria Harbour.
