folks

this empty coke bottle (or any PET bottle) with a few coins in it is an amazing thing. Got to be tried.

It scared the living daylights of the puppy and shut him up.

Phew....not for some sleep.

thanks to Carang.

As for toilet training your little puppy, have you tried using toilet drops? You can get them from pet stores, drop a couple of drops at the spot where puppy is meant to poo and wee. I used it and my puppy was trained in like 3 days or so.

jlongboard is on a distinguished road
Well if her highness Oprah agrees then all the other trainers in the States MUST be totally wrong!!! Maybe everyone should believe the mass media and look for a quick fix.
Like you said take what works, but you do an alpha roll on a 70lb dog you have a great chance of getting your face bit off.

I did get a spray that is supposed to do the trick - doesn't seem to work so far.

i guess we use the methods more BEFORE the dog gets to the point that they are in desperate need of something. the best thing is to stop problems BEFORE they start. if your dog knows who's boss from the beginning, then you shouldn't have a problem.

The SPCA runs some decent training classes, including puppy socialization courses:

Yes, they have English-speaking courses (I believe they run both English & Cantonese although I'm not 100% sure). Anyway give 'em a call. They're very friendly so can help point you in the right direction.
