Amen Boris! (and jay) Some people here seem to think raw sewage is piped into their kitchens...it's been stated over and over again..HONG KONG HAS SOME OF THE BEST WATER AVAILABLE AT THE SOURCE...its the delivery (old iron pipes depositing rust & sediment) that contaminates the water...easily filtered out with a Brita or tap-mounted filter...but there will always be morons willing to part with more money than they need to...after all, if it's more expensive, it must be better, right? (mantra of the ignorant)

Thumbs up Aqua Pure

Now Now Boris lol.

We installed an inline, under sink, water filter, attached to a dedicated drinking water tap, during our kitchen renovations.

Price for the filter unit was $680, inc 3 ceramic replacement filters. The drinking fountain tap cost us $130.00, and installation was carried out during a complete relocation of our new sink anyway, but I'd say it wouldnt be much.

All up probably $1300.00, installed into an existing installation ?

The importers details are marked on the photo i supplied of the filter replacement, via 3M.

Very happy with the results of this filtration system, its doing an excellent job so far.

Never met your but have to say.
" a fool and his money are easily parted "

Perhaps before you installed this magnificent plumbing sculpture you should have actually consulted someone who actually knew what they where talking about, instead of just of have them selling something for the cash reward.

If you have read my previous posts on this subject, you will understand how qualified I am to speak on this.

Ha Ha, what are you arguing about exactly Boris ?

I just offered an alternative for people, that wont cop an ugly white plastic jigger taking over the will of their existing tap, like something out of a Ripley Scott Alien movie...

I prefer things integrated and finished off properly. Out of sight so to speak...

Cash reward ? we purchased the item from our plumbing supply, where we purchased our bath and toilet from, and didnt enter into any filter discussion, I saw it there and it fitted our function criteria.

A decent filter costs a few hundreds only. i have no idea people argue that we are losing a fortune to have one.

Of cause there are more expensive ones in the market too.

It is not just the rust and dirt problem from old pipes

>> HONG KONG HAS SOME OF THE BEST WATER AVAILABLE AT THE SOURCE.

you mean the dirty river water from Mainland China or
after treatment water on HK side ?

What is the fault for removing chemicals added to the tap water ?

You know what I find so amusing Vrindaven ?

Some of the so called critics of the water filters here, probably spend $1000 plus everytime they go out for a night out on the piss in LKF etc. One night, and achieved what by spending that money? 3 months on, the $890HKD we have spent on the filter, has saved us $900 in bottled drinking water...

Seems a funny thing for a few people to target, like we belong to some cult, because we chose to stop "buying" water, @ $300 per month, and purchased a mid range water filter instead, which incidently, owes us nothing from the begining of this month, just in savings...

You talk through your A**e - AGAIN !
Have you a) any idea about water collection b) water treatment c) purification as pertains to the HK supply?

Have you EVER in any country , had anything to do with water supply OR -- and I will be kind here to hopefully give you a yes to one of these points , study water subjects in school or took a trip around the HK water company infrastructure? Including what is imported from the mainland , where, FYI, HK pays 8 times the rate to guarantee for you to have a shower twice a day and non stop high pressure water to your tap. This while , last year, Guangdong had a major drought.

You think like someone who thinks we are all being poisoned by the deadly Red Monster. Fortunately anyone with more than a Mud Hut education in the farthest reaches and the highest mountain of the poorest country in the world can see your unreasonably uneducated in this matter. Hey - but go on believing all that hippy crap you undoubtedly base your lifestyle upon.

I refer you to my comment about you previously. You have just proved beyond reasonable doubt what I thought before.

Regarding MY personal consumption of drinking water a) Bottled - very rarely and normally its convenient when out and about b) Cooled - Boiled tap water I have in my fridge, flavoured with a local fruit tea. A " portly " man like me should keep away from things like cold fizzy drinks. This chilled brew is better than anything shop bought AND LASTLY c) Pure out of the tap - water. For drinking neat, or for Coffee so I may adequately function in the AM.

So imagine MINE AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF OTHERS homes who don't have your installation , which by the way if you don't regularly change the prefilter will actually PASS CONTAMINANTS into your water, and how much cash we have saved. Having also never been stupid enough to have bottled water in the home for drinking I have save thousands upon thousands.

This of course so I can party with Geo guys and Gals whenever I like. Now thats what I call a good use of the HKD.

Why do people come to HK, even live here for a long time and still think its some third world backwater and they are making huge sufferings to stay here. If you don't trust the water go and live in the country of YOUR healthy choice. This cities water purity is higher than New York, Madrid, Paris, Los Angeles and most certainly miles about any other Asian city you might name ( bar Singapore ).

So ( and especially Vrindavan ) to paraphrase a famous saying.
Those who can - give an informed answer from PROFESSIONAL education about water purity - should. Those who can't should leave the advice they offer in the " hippy lifestyle " section of Page 1 bookshop.

I am sorry for the rant KIA - really I am - but they started it !

Close the thread for heavens sake.

I really don't understand where you are coming from Boris,*sorry*, or why you have such a bee in your bonnet over somebody installing an under bench water filter ?

I also don't think its very sporting of you, to decide if this thread continues on or not, thats a little bit on the god complex end of the overbearing scale.
