HKSAR Passport for Non Chinese Decent

I will soon get HK Permanent ID Card. After that i plan to apply for HKSAR Passport. I am Non-Chinese Decent but my wife and two kids are HK Chinese.
I will give up my Orignal Nationality before i apply for Chinese nationality also i have good income and tax record and have two properties under my name.
Only thing that makes me nervous is that how much importance Immigration Department will give to my Chinese Language ability as i dont speak any fluent Chinese. Is Chinese Language the most basic thing or some body can get around without it when applying for chinese nationality.
Does any body have some experience.? I will appreciate your advice.

Thanks

The Chinese Nationality Law lists having Chinese Citizen relatives and living in China as two separate grounds for application and approval of Chinese Nationality. It seems that you qualify on both counts
