Do you know if banks in Hong Kong has been assigned International Bank Account Number IBAN yet or not ?

Particularly i would like to know for Citibank Hong Kong

IBAN is only for banks in EU. Banks in HK have SWIFT.

I am awaiting a transfer from Barclays in the UK to my HK account, but they refuse to send the money until I provide them with IBAN. All the staff at HSBC HK assure me that I don't need one, but Barclays insists I do.
The suggestion to call the ironically named 'helpline' is completely besides the point!
I think IBAN has become a big thing in the UK, Barclays is apparently claiming it's an anti-terror measure. So very silly.

agree, lots of people in UK insist on IBAN
just like the U.S. asking us for a zip code in the address

and finally, after much explanation the company informed me they don't need IBAN to transfer fund from UK to my bank in HK any more

Just waste my time to explan to them how the international bank transfer work
